What We’re Looking For:

  • 6+ years of experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse
  • Active, unencumbered LVN license in California
  • Associate’s degree (or higher)
  • Enthusiastic and energetic—you enjoy teaching and want to grow in nursing education
  • Comfortable with technology and willing to use it in the classroom

Baccalaureate Degree Instructor Applicant

  • Hold a current California active license as a Registered Nurse; and
  • Hold a baccalaureate degree (Does Not have to be a BSN in Nursing) from an approved school; or a valid teaching credential; or have completed a minimum of one-year full-time teaching experience in a state approved registered nursing or vocational or practical nursing, or psychiatric technician school within the last five years; or met community college or state university teaching requirements in California; and
  • Have a minimum of two years’ experience as a registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse within the last five years.
  • (B) Licensed Vocational Nurse:
    • Hold a current California active license as a Vocational Nurse; and
    • Hold a baccalaureate degree from an approved school; or a valid teaching credential; or have completed a minimum of one year full-time teaching experience in a state approved registered nursing or vocational or practical nursing, or psychiatric technician school within the last five years; or met community college or state university teaching requirements in California; and
    • Have a minimum of two years’ experience as a vocational nurse within the last five years.

Job Summary:

California Nurses Educational Institute is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) Instructor to educate and mentor nursing students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings. The instructor will play a crucial role in preparing students for successful nursing careers by providing high-quality education and hands-on training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction in classroom, skills lab, and clinical settings, ensuring students develop the necessary nursing competencies.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards.
  • Evaluate student performance through exams, skills assessments, and clinical evaluations.
  • Supervise and guide students during clinical rotations, reinforcing nursing theory with real-world applications.
  • Maintain accurate student records and ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize technology for grading, communication, and instructional purposes, including electronic health records (EHR) and online learning platforms.
  • Stay updated on current nursing practices and incorporate evidence-based teaching strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Current, unencumbered RN license in California.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of RN clinical experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing (BSN required, MSN preferred).
  • Must be proficient with technology, including electronic health records (EHR), online learning platforms, and virtual communication tools.
  • Previous teaching, precepting, or clinical supervision experience preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and foster a supportive learning environment.
